The week before last, I shared a throwback of some portraits I got to take of my sister's growing little family. In those photos, she was sporting an adorable baby bump. Guess who just turned one? Sweet little Joseph got his own photo shoot to celebrate his first trip around the sun and boy did he rock it! Have I told you how much he loves the camera? You can see his first feature on the blog in "A Baby and his Pumpkins", in which he was just seven months old.
Being such a super, little dude, he and his parents dressed for the occasion! Joseph wore his favorite beanie from Bombay Crochet and a shiny red cape! (a rectangle of fabric from Joann's) Enjoy these highlights from our super shoot!

The sun does still exist and it graced us with its presence during a recent (and very adorable) portrait session. I was recently honored with photographing this little cutie to celebrate his first year! He was a joy to work with and very talkative. Here are some highlights from his session. Happy Birthday little dude! The newborn portrait being held is the work of another talented photographer.
Special thanks to my friend Heather for the recommendation. It's been a minute since I last blogged. Let me make it up to you with this adorable throwback!
This week, my sweet little nephew will be celebrating his first birthday (which I am very excited to share with you soon). Before he was born, I had the honor of photographing his parents as they showed off their cute baby bump. Congrats to these two on their first year as fantastic parents, and congrats to the little guy on handling life with such joy thus far! <3 I got to hang out with these cuties while visiting one of my favorite places in the world, The Columbia River Gorge. People in love, make for beautiful pictures.
Not every one of my favorite spots are accessible after last year's fire, but hope is blooming as the weather brightens up and the land has time to recover. We stopped at the Women's Forum Viewpoint, overlooking the Vista House, and took a walk under Latourell Falls. There may have been some tree climbing as well, because it's good to indulge your inner child. Enjoy the cuteness and beautiful views! In January of 2018, these two love birds said "I do." and there was a beautiful celebration at The Laurelhurst Club! Decorations inspired by a stary night were brought in by the Skyler, making the club almost as lovely as her. A fun photo booth was brought in from Mt. Hood Photo and everyone got in on posing with their silly props. With delicious food, drinks, and many kind words from loved ones, it was a night to remember. I absolutely adore their first look.
Jason's expression, upon seeing his beautiful bride, was priceless. Best wishes to you both! It was an honor to capture your special evening! Here are some highlights from their ceremony and reception. To celebrate our first Valentine's Day as husband and wife, my love and I took a four day trip to Long Beach, Washington. One of those days was spent hiking around some of the beautiful parks and lighthouses. Upon arriving at the North Head Lighthouse, we saw the bright orange of a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter. It was far off, but we soon realized that it was headed right towards us... To our surprise, a gentleman nearby signaled the aircraft to aproach! We were able to observe as they rescued a practice dummy from the waters below. I kid you not, we literally happened upon this. It was such an impressive and exciting sight to see. I thank every member of the U.S. Coast Guard for their hard work in keeping people safe. This was truely, an honor to witness. We took a look at the lighthouse and explored the surrounding area in peace, thankful for our surprisingly eventful morning.
Yesterday on January 12th, the city of Gresham celebrated its' 113th birthday!
A party was hosted in the lovely new location of iCandy at 344 N Main Ave. The party was visited by important community members while Mayor Bemis invited Mr. Gresham (also known as Todd) to lead us in singing Happy Birthday. The candy shop provided guests with a vast assortment of sweet treats while we were entertained by Cha Cha The Clown! It was a beautiful afternoon filled with beautiful smiling faces. I love my Gresham! Happy Birthday! It's important to have a good assistant and boy have I lucked out with this one. Not only is he extremely helpful with making beautiful images happen, but he also happens to be the love of my life. We are coming up on being together for three years and being married for five months, but shortly before those he has a birthday!
This post contains images I've taken of his handsome face during a couple jobs together. Babe, you bring such a light to my life and work. I'm so thankful to have you in my life. Happy Birthday Week! Enjoy the cuteness. (He's all mine.) Keep an eye out on social media for highlights from our first wedding shoot of the year! I've been a little under the weather and am resting up so I can be good as new for our first wedding job of the year!
This past weekend, I acquired a remote shutter trigger and decided to take a self portrait. Not usually being on that side of the camera and being a little out of my comfort zone, I thought long and hard about where to shoot and what to wear. Now, what would you do if you had a nice camera, tripod, shutter trigger, free time, and a brightly colored unicorn onesie? (Yes, I have a unicorn onesie. It was a very comfy halloween costume.) I hope you would take silly self portraits in a field with some comical balloons, because that is exactly what I did. It was a beautiful day, so my location of choice was flooded with hikers. People questioned, pointed, laughed, and took cell phone pictures of me. A few chatted and observed me struggling in the ocasional gusts of wind, so I requested jokes in exchange for their entertainment. One man's response was, "Are we living one?" It was an enjoyable afternoon. The message I have in mind for this shoot is, "Just be yourself", whatever that means to you, whatever other people may think. Have fun, don't take yourself too seriousely, and love yourself. You are rare and magical!
Have a wonderful week and comment where you want to see The Unicorn next! |
